“My imagination, keeps firing inside…”
fugue is the debut release from blablarism, the solo moniker of Kiev resident Oksana Zmorovytch. Together, these four tracks serve as an ode to the disparate nature of her homeland, where beautiful Stalinist constructions stand side-by-side with Khrushchev's sullen cement-paneled buildings. Drawn from a darkened kaleidoscope of influences that recall elements of goth, post-punk, shoegaze and drone, fugue is a dense composition of plangent guitars, hypnotic bass lines, mournful synth tones and amorphous vocals that create a suitably bleak register. The unrelenting beat of caustic drums throughout ensures the pagan’s lament continues apace.
IDEAL 002 is a reflection of the paralyzing hinterland between fiction and reality, strictly limited to 50 tapes.
